The Project renovates an existing 210,000 sf concrete tilt-up building and grounds previously used for "Mervyn’s" department store training center. The design by Ricky G. Mason, AIA in association with Collaborative Design Architects configures the building interior to provide educational facilities and public outpatient clinic. Design parti separates building plan into three zones: front public zone faces public street for easy visibility and includes clinic, reception and administrative offices; rear semi-private zone faces student parking lot for easy access and includes classrooms, teaching laboratories, lecture hall library and future classrooms and gym; center neutral zone buffers clinic from college and includes offices, cafeteria and bookstore; each zone is connected by two cross-axis interior "boulevards" to make orientation and circulation simple and direct.
