    THEATER BUILDING NO. 556 ADDITION - Exterior

    The Project retrofits renovates and expands a one-story 10,000 sf building and adjacent site used as theater and instructional center. The retrofit includes upgrade or replacement of infrastructure components including hvac, plumbing, electrical and voice / data communication systems; fire sprinkler and smoke detection systems; and theater audio / visual and lighting control systems. The renovation includes remodel of lobby and anterooms at north end of building; refinish of theater seating and addition of seating for disabled and replacement of site paving and landscaping. The expansion adds a 2,500 sf main entrance lobby / gallery and anterooms to east side of building. The addition design parti provides an open plan with "wings" to either side of a central point of entry to provide cross access to two points of entry into the theater. The high ceilings and floor to ceiling curtain wall system combine to provide a dynamic and visually exciting interior and exterior architecture. The Project shall incorporate active / passive "green" design concepts for "tight" building envelope, solar water heating and use finish materials with recycled / rapidly renewable content.
